Friends of the Norwegian Aquavit (Norske Akevitters Venner) are an independent organization that works at the national level. The association was founded in 1999.
The organization works to promote the culture and traditions related to the use of the national drink aquavit in Norwegian food and drink culture.
There are about 350 different types of Norwegian aquavit. The first written information about aquavit is from April 13, 1531. The world’s best-known aquavit is Lysholm Linie Aquavit.
The Friends of Norwegian Aquavit (Norske Akevitters Venner) do not produce aquavit themselves, but work to share knowledge about aquavit both domestically and abroad.
The Friends of Norwegian Aquavit (Norske Akevitters Venner) serves as an advisor to public authorities and is often called upon as an expert on aquavit issues.
The Friends of the Norwegian aquavit (Norske Akevitters Venner) can also direct inquiries to relevant producers.
